Job description
Join us and drive the energy revolution
We are seeking a VPP Operations Expert to oversee the operational integrity of our Virtual Power Plant software. In this role, you will bridge the gap between energy market strategies and the performance of physical assets. You will act as the primary owner of our SaaS platform, ensuring that our portfolio of assets—specifically Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)—is configured, monitored, and dispatched effectively to meet commercial objectives.
What you do
As part of our handpicked team of experts, you will
SaaS Platform Ownership & Configuration: Serve as the functional owner of the VPP software. You will configure system parameters, adjust logic for new commercial products, and ensure the platform is optimized to translate market signals into physical asset behaviour effectively
Vendor Management & Roadmap Coordination: Act as the primary liaison with the external software provider. You will be responsible for translating internal operational requirements into technical feature requests, monitoring vendor performance against SLAs, and driving the resolution of software bugs to minimize operational downtime
Asset Monitoring & Incident Resolution: Monitor the real-time activity of the asset portfolio to ensure accurate dispatch. You will serve as the first line of defense for operational issues, troubleshooting root causes (software logic vs. connectivity) to mitigate revenue loss and avoid grid penalties
New Asset Integration: Manage the technical onboarding process for new assets entering the VPP. This involves configuring telemetry, validating communication protocols, and conducting end-to-end control tests to ensure seamless commercial activation
Operational Support (On-Call): Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to support the trading and dispatch teams. You will provide critical problem-solving during non-standard hours to ensure the continuous reliability of our grid services
Job requirements
How you fit into the team
You want to actively participate in the transition to clean energy, and you
Have a strong understanding of power markets (day-ahead, intraday, balancing) and the operational processes required to deliver power to the grid
Have proven experience in the monitoring or dispatching of energy assets. Specific experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), including knowledge of State of Charge (SoC) management and cycling constraints, is a strict requirement
Demonstrated ability to manage complex B2B software tools (SaaS). You must be comfortable navigating admin interfaces, configuring detailed settings, and understanding automation logic
Distinguish between 'job done' and 'job done right.' In a high-stakes grid environment, you bring a rigorous level of attention to detail, where close enough is not enough
Excel in acting as a primary operational point of contact for external partners or customers. You are capable of guiding asset owners through technical onboarding processes and communicating complex operational issues with a service oriented approach”
Good to have (not mandatory)
Industrial Communication Protocols: Familiarity with industrial communication standards is a distinct advantage, specifically IEC 60870-5-104,
Modbus TCP, AMQP, or similar IoT protocols used for asset connectivity
Gateways & Controllers: Experience working with communication gateways, multiprotocol gateways, or PLCs
